I just upgraded from r14 to r15. Immediately, I notice that I could not select JPG as the output file format. Do I miss anything?

Dear dimage,

Jpeg output is supported in 24bit mode only. For 48bit images I recommend JPG2000 if you don't want to save it as Tiff.
Best,
Jan

Thanks for your swift reply and advice.
Along the line, I tried choosing "48bit -> 24bit" and realized that the JPG option became available.

Just to express my initial impression on r15 (vs r14). In general, it is easy to say r15 is better than r14. Somethings specific:

pro - vastly improved stability. On my own Win7, r14 usually crashed (not responding) once per photo. r15 has no such problem. Well done.
con - SRD (not iSRD) runs more slowly on r15. (p.s. I normally use SRD as the 2nd (occasionally, plus the 3rd) layer with some path masks)

Dear dimage.

Thx for the feedback. It feels good to see that our users can confirm our improvements (and efforts). Running the software inside a testing environment is one thing but then the software has to prove itself on "the outside", too.

Improving the performance of SRD is currently in progress, but it's actually the most complex filter in SilverFast and any performance improvements, especially if memory management is involved, affects each filter individually. We had to make a tough choice - either release the current improvements with 90% of the filters included, or wait for SRD to be included. We opted for the first.

Best,
JAN
