grain in scanned dias

I'm using a Reflecta DigitDia 5000 with LaserSoft Imaging. As I want the best quality, I use the "Archive scan" features as described in the Addendum for slide magazine scanners. I must be wrong somewhere because, though I got large files (50 Mbytes), they have a low quality, specially with grain in the skies. Previously, I intended to use my video-projector to replace the dia-projector and free some space to Madam. For the moment, the WAF is not convincing.
Any idea ?

Dear Jean-Pierre,

Grain can be reduced using the GANE filter.
At high resolutions the grain you see is the actual film material.

kind regards,

Well, I did it in HDR but I got a loss in sharpness. Is it possible to apply a filter to a part of the picture ? I tried by diminishing the frame size to the sky of my scanned dia but the resulting files was only the "ganed" sky :(

Hi Jean-Pierre

well, in case of grain reduction you have to make a compromise in terms of sharpness.

It is not possible to do masking with filters. The only possibility in this case is to use the advanced controls in the GANE dialogue to find the right balace between sharpness and grain.
