Reflecta RPS7200 - B&W film strip not loading automatically

I have scanned 6.000 pictures circa with RPS7200 and Silverfast AI Studio , both color and B&W, and I'm quite happy with the results.

Now I'm scanning B&W stripes of film with up to 36 pictures. Some stripes are automatically loaded and scanned as usual but most of these B&W stripes have to be manually loaded and scanned. With these films, the advance picture by picture does not work, the batch scan stops after a couple of picture, the overview identify only a couple of pictures. The advance by one millimeter works properly. If I use a color or a different B&W film everything works properly.

I have checked the films and I have not found a difference between the film automatically loaded and scanned and the others.

Any suggestion to help me to solve this problem?

Thank you in advance for your kind answer.

Bye.

Pierpaolo

Dear Pierpaolo,

Is the beginning of those film strips straight and the first perforation hole undamaged?

The scanner counts the perforation holes to position the images.
If that fails it can happen that the images are not positioned as you expect them to be.

Kind regards,
Arne Ketelhohn.

Hi Arne.

The beginning of the film is straight and the holes are ok. I really don't understand why that the advance picture by picture and the overview work properly for the first 2-3 pictures (the film exits on the right of the scanner) and then they just stop working. From that point only the advance by one millimeter and the eject works properly.

It is quite frustrating :-(

Bye.

Dear Pierpaolo,

did you maybe use the buttons on the scanner to move the film?
SilverFast unfortunately can not use these because the scanner does not inform SilverFast about this change.

Kind regards,
