LaserSoft Imaging

I have a Plustek OptiFilm 7600 scanner with SilverFast Ai Studio. Since installation, my MacBook Pro (OSX 10.6.6) takes a bit longer to boot up, and noticeably longer to shut down. Dealt with Apple tech support, reset SMC, actually wiped out my HD. After wiping out the drive and reinstalling all my apps except Silverfast, my computer was booting and turning off quickly. I just reinstalled SilverFast Ai Studio, and now the problem has returned. Any suggestions on how to rectify this would be greatly appreciated.

Have you been able to solve your issue?

Normally SilverFast is not automatically started.
This would have to be changed manually.

It could only be that your Mac initializing the Scanner at this point and is loading the drivers.
But this is a necessary step and could only be prevented if you do not attach the scanner during startup.

This also happens to me every time I install Silverfast.

For some reason, Silverfast screws admin-rights in OSX and thereby the driver caches in OSX (kext cache) ... I have no idea why??

You will propably find this error somewhere in the console "Can't create kext cache under / - owner not root."

The following command run in Terminal should solve it:

sudo chown root:admin /
