Dear Ptown_Paco,
Please make sure you are using the latest Quicktime version.
And also download the latest movie installer from our
download section.

VLT QuickTime button wants to install QT v. 7

Maybe there's a better subforum for this question?
Why does the DLT QT button in the upper right want to install QT v. 7 on a machine with the latest possible QT already installed? What's the workaround?
Thanks for any assistance.

Just posted same Q in a different subforum. I have latest possible QT. I just installed movies from a brand new CD two weeks ago. See this in VLT via HDR Studio (not in SilverFast whe QT buttons work fine). Please advise.

Dear Dick,
I talked to our media guys and yes some of our quicktime movies require Quicktime 7 because they use interactive components no longer supported in the newest Quicktime version for Apple.
kind regards.

So the only way to see this presumably helpful help is to figure out how to get both QT7 and QTlatest on the machine? That's sad.

Yeah, it's sad that Apple decided to drop support for many features present in previous versions of QuickTime to favor HTML5 but that's the way things go now.
Since we have all our resources working on a newer version of SilverFast which will require new video tutorials, I believe we will work on other ways to tackle with this on the newer version.
In the meantime its apple's way or watching the videos externally without interaction.
Cheers

Quicktime 7 can coexist with Quicktime X - Apple allows them to both be installed for this reason. You can find the Quicktime 7 installer on your Snow Leopard DVD, if you're using 10.6, or download the latest Snow Leopard version from here:

Where are they even stored to do this?

Thanks, Misty. That's good advice. I'll have to figure out if that same capability is on the MacBook Air reinstall drive as the MBA comes with no Snow Leopard DVD.
But going to find these videos outside the Silverfast UI doesn't help at all. They remain unviewable.
