cannot concurrently run SF Ai and SF HDR?

hi.
I've begun setting up and running SF on my Mac Pro running Snow Leopard. I'll report oddities as I encounter them, although not all of the oddities because there are quite a few.
I'm currently running SF Ai Nikon (Coolscan 4000 ED). It's scanning a batch of mounted negatives in an SF-210 attachment (which SF Ai reports as an SF-200) with MultiSampling and iSRD turned on, saving to HDRi. So far, it's working quite well.
I wanted to run SF HDR Studio to look at the images as they were being scanned by SF Ai Studio. I couldn't launch SF Universal Launcher again, which by the way does not appear in the Dock of my current user. Neither does the sub-launched process appear in my Dock. I switched to another user and launched SF Universal Launcher from there. Both SF processes in the other user's space appear in the Dock. Weird!
In the other user's space, I could launch SF HDR Studio, and I could load the scanned HDRi files, but when I open iSRD and click on Preview or Auto while SF Ai is actively scanning in the other user space, SF HDR Studio hangs or displays a "System has insufficient memory" error.
Can I launch multiple copies of SF? It would obviously be ideal that I could run SF Ai Nikon and SF HDR Studio at the same time.
Are SF Ai and SF HDR saving to/using the same cache files?
cheers,
Gregory
