Problem solved

I am new to this forum so I hope I'm not repeating an issue that was discussed before. I would like to relate a successful resolution to a problem I've been having with Silverfast SE Plus for my Minolta Dimage Scan Multi Pro. My setup is: iMac 7.1, Intel Core 2 Duo 2.4 GHz, Mac OS X 10.5.5 with a Lacie external HD used for TimeMachine automatic backups. I scan multiple formats of black and white negatives and the Silverfast software and scanner have worked together flawlessly for this purpose for some time. Recently I've started having problems as follows: software initiates as normal, prescan produces normal looking image and I can make any adjustments as needed. Final scan starts and as it progresses the scan monitor image appears abnormal as if the photo were cut up and put back together our of order. Right before the scan is finished the software and scanner lock up and I must force quit the software and reboot the scanner. No file is produced. This happenned multiple times to me as I tried to work through the problem. I was able to get the scanner to work as normal with two other software packages so it couldn't have been the scanner. I reinstalled the driver for the scanner anyway and I deleted the preference files and reinstalled the Silverfast software, all to no avail. Finally I noticed that during the scan process the Apple Timemachine was running. I disabled Timemachine, started the scan and everything worked perfectly! I have successfully completed dozens if not hundreds of scans in the past with Timemachine in operation, so I have no idea why suddenly there should be compatibility issues. I hope this may help someone else who is wrestling with this issue.

Dear sidelock,

Welcome to the froum :-)
I really can not imagine why your setup behaves like this as we have not seen anything like that on our site.
If anyone else encounters this behavior please do not hesitate to post in this thread.
