Unknown error during preview in OS X 10.11 (El Capitan)

Hello,
After the upgrade to OS X 10.11 I'm getting "Unknown error" message in the Scanner status dialog right after the prescan does the first pass. There are some differences in the exact behaviour depending on whether Multi-Exposure option is enabled or not but anyway pressing the Scan button results in the same error.
The software: SilverFast Ai Studio Version 8.5.0r8 Build number: 15514
The scanner: Plustek OpticFilm 8200i
I tried restarting the Mac, turning the scanner on and off several times but nothing helps.
Is anyone else experiencing the same problem with OS X 10.11?

We also just have gotten the final version of OS X 10.11 and have began our testing.
Therefor we have not yet declared official
SilverFast 8 support for this operating system.
There have bee several reports about USB devices not properly working under OS X 10.11.
We are currently examining these issues.
Kind regards,
Arne Ketelhohn.

Yes. I've got the same problems.
I use a Plustek Opticfilm 8100 with Silverfast 8.0.1 and sometimes the scanner just stops scanning and the software says: "unknown error"
Sometimes the scanner scans the image the wrong way, that it only scans half of the image.
I hope there is a fix really soon!

Could you share any estimate on how long it might take till the new version with the fix is released?
A few days, a week, or a month?
I just want to have an idea in order to be able to plan accordingly.

I frankly find it very disturbing/surprising that you say you have only just gotten El Capitan. Developer releases have been available since the start of the year and this problem should have been sorted out *well* before the release of the 10.11. As my scanner is currently useless with your product I am now going to go and purchase your competitor's software. I think you need to review your update management policy.

Unfortunately Apple is known to make last minute changes to their OS X releases.
Therefor we only test using the final version.
And as this is an issue regarding the drivers of the manufacturer I can not give an estimated date for a fix yet.

I have the same error. Power cycling the scanner allows the next scan. I agree with the others, not using the developer version to pre bug software is a disappointment considering the premium we pay for SIlverfast There is a reason for developers to work with beta software.

Plustek is currently creating new drivers.
After testing these will be included in our next
update.
