1.Cannot delete frames [SE]. 2.Scan Dimensions dialogue gone

I work at an Arts University, Photography dept. we have Silverfast on a range of workstations for film scanning. There are a number of incredibly frustrating but basic user issues which re-occur and we would like to eliminate.
This first issue happens with both Studio AI8 [with Nikon 9000ED scanners] and a new copy of Silverfast SE 8.2 [running with brand new Epson V800].
1. The Scan Dimensions box disappears, so one cannot set the scan dimensions, how can it be re-opened if it is not there? [we usually have to delete preferences to return the program me to default state] - is this simply a corruption issue?
2.On SIlverfast SE [this does not seem to happen with the Studio AI8] when you create more than one frame [for batch scanning], the Delete Frames option is greyed out, so it is impossible to return to a full Prescan preview of the entire flatbed [i.e for the next set of scans, after finishing the first scans] - why?
- How do you start again with a fresh holder of negs if user cannot create a fresh prescan of the entire flatbed, and cannot delete the current frames and return to one frame?
Again, we are having to shut the program me down to reset, this cannot be right. Is it a bug? Is there some way to access the delete frames when it is greyed out?
Please can someone from Silverfast urgently advise on these basic functional issues.
