As I am about to scan an archive of around 7500 colour transparencies over this coming year, I am finally about to invest in a Microtek Scanmaker 8700 with Silverfast 5.5.
Have had some experience with other scanner models over the years - but still somewhat undecided if I should go for Nikon dedicated slide scanner instead. Budget is tightly stretched after extensive PC upgrade. Just would like to hear about the general user opinion of the Scanmaker 8700 for quality slide print output
repro before committing the cash. I really
appreciate the advice, thanks! CormacM

If you can go for the Nikon. There is nothing wrong with Microtech, but with 7500 tansparencys to do everything will go faster and nicer with the Nikon. Not to mention the higher image quality you will get. If the images are 35mm the Nikon is the way to go.
