LaserSoft Imaging

I am knew to both scanning and the S/W and would appreciate some help. When I want to scan a negative to a positive picture on my computer in Workflow, I get to the correction point "negafix". If I do not know the manufacturer or the filmtype, do I the just ignore this step or is there some way to find out? Thanks!

No, you can not just ignore that step, because it is important for the correct transformation.

In case you do not know the exact film type, you will have to try out some until you find one that gives good results.
