Problems with Silverfast HDR Studio

Hi,
I could not resist to try HDR Studio, however it seems that there are bugs in the 6.4.0r1 Windows. so far I have discovered:

when trying webupdate - "Unkown error:7" (that problem occurs also now to my HDR installation!)

using VLT - it seems that several files are converted from raw format (CRW) and generates faulty images... the really weird thing is that the program seems to convert tif-files! However, the same thing happens also to CRW files. It is not every case that are convert in a faulty way.

Occasionally the program hangs when you are in VLT mode

I am almost regret that I bougth the upgrade...

Any solutions to these problems?

yours sincerely
Anders

Hi,
I have downloaded 6.4.0r3 and it seems that certain things have improved - webupdate seems to be working. However, the faulty images are mostly totally black, both as thumbnails and as a complete image... in one occasion the images turn into a multicolour lineimage!. (The first thumbnail is correct but after conversion...) The files in the raw format (CRW) seems to be working, but the same problem to certain tif files remains...

yours sincerely
Anders

PS
I discovered some other problems - when open jpg files, occasionally, the image is corrupted. However, the thumbnail is ok and the jpg file turns out not to be corrupted when it is opened in some other imageprocessing software...

Dear Anders,

would you be so kind and send us the Tif files you are talking about.
And it would be fine to get you "SF_Logfile", too.

You will recieve the Logfile by pressing "CTRL" or "STRG" when you start SilverFast.

please go to our support formular here :

thanks in advance

Hi,
to whom should I send a sample tif file and the logfile?

One piece more of information. The problem seems to occur when trying to open tif files produced of Canon Digital File Viewer Utility when the file is saved using converting/save the image as "TIFF(16/ch)". However Photoshop 7.0 is handling the images without a problem.

Dear Anders,

this would be a general problem to any Raw-Converter (remember Photoshop 7.0 has none). These files have EXIF data included which makes these files look like a raw format but are supposed to be a normal TIF. This causes the start of RAW Converting process where it isn't needed and presents a false result.

We will implement a solution in the future to avoid this problem.

kind regards
