Multi-Exposure looks wrong?

Greetings on the new year. I'm new to scanning and LaserSoft, but the Multi-Exposure feature is giving me results that don't look correct. Maybe I'm misunderstanding something. Basically, it looks tone-mapped.
I'll attach an example. In the Multi-Exposure image you can see that it's changed the color significantly and destroyed the misty appearance of the water. Both of these are just clicking through with the defaults for the WorkflowPilot.
What I would expect, maybe naively, is that the default settings for developing Multi-Exposure would produce an image that looks very similar to Single-Exposure. When I've used HDR in the past, there is more detail in the shadows and highlights, but it's only visible if you change the virtual exposure. Here it really does look tone-mapped.
Is there some way to make the Multi-Exposure look like the Single-Exposure?
