Color cast at different resolutions - confirmed

Hello,

I have a plustek 7600i with silverfast SE plus.
Latest Silverfast version (8.0.1r12) and latest driver version, Win7 x64.

The main problem is i get color cast at the final scan at different resolutions.

At resolutions up to 1800dpi color is fine just like the prescan.
At 2400 dpi there is a strong magenta cast with Portra 160NC.
At 3600 dpi the magenta cast is gone but at 7200 dpi the magenta cast is back.

Please note that the problem is verified with different films at different times.
I can reproduce the effect every single time by just scanning at the mentioned resolutions.
Same settings between scans just changing the resolutuon.
No me or isrd

The color cast is quite strong and there is nothing i can do about it.

I have uninstalled silverfast, erased the files, uninstalled the scanner driver, removed s/n reinstalled everything and the problem is still there every time.

I understand that there might be a color shift with different resolutions but this is just unacceptable.

I usually scan at 1800 dpi but i want to be able to use different resolutions.

Please tell me is this a silverfast problem or the scanner itself.
If this a scanner problem i will contact plustek to ask for a replacement unit, because i think this not how the product should function.

Thank you
Apostolis.

Dear Apostolis,

Did you already install the latest drivers from the Plustek website?
This is either a driver or scanner issue.

kind regards,
Arne Ketelhohn.

Thanks for the reply.
Driver 4.2.0.1 installed from file A28_V4.2.0.1_13L_x64. Installed it and uninstalled it twice just to be sure.

Take a look at the screenshot below.
You can see the prescan as well as in "New folder (5)" the two thumbnails one at 2400 and one at 1800.
These are different scans from the above i posted but the result is the same.

I will contact Plustek for a replacement scanner.

Thank you.

I'm having exactly the same issue with the opticfilm 8100 and silver fast 8.0.1r18. I've seen scattered mentions of this all over the internet, but I still haven't found a solution.

It's a very very simple problem. At 1800dpi the full scans match the preview scans color exactly. If you bump the resolution up and keep every single setting the same the color gets skewed. What's the solution??

We have already had a meeting with Plustek about your issues and urged them to solve this.
Unfortunately we can not do anything about this matter ourselves.
