Prescan colors different to final scan!

I'm going crazy with this one. My prescans looks different to the final scans. I have been in touch with support and all settings should be right concerning CMS-settings. When I do a prescan at 100% (pressing the usual prescan button in the menu), do my adjustments (or not - doesn't matter) and then press scan, the final image comes out different in color. But if I do a prescan and then press the 1:1 button in the "unsharp mask" window, I get a closer, more detailed image - those colors are correct and matches the final scan perfectly. So, that adds up to that the "faster" 100% prescan is off in color compared to the output. This is worthless if you're trying to CC and need to see the image as a whole. Take a look at my screen shots and you'll see what I mean. The final scan is the one on the right in the screen shots. Please, help!

Dear customer,
The normal preview uses a resolution which can be lower than the actual scan resolution.
It is possible your device shows a varying color behavior based on the used resolution.
The 1:1 actually uses the final resolution.
In the SilverFast preferences general tab you can find a high-resolution prescan setting.
This allows to raise the resolution used for the standard prescan.
This will take longer to prescan but should give you a better preview result.
kind regards,
Arne Ketelhohn.

There is no such setting to be found in the general tab or any of the other tabs. Look at the frame grab.

Dear customer,
That is not correct.
I have informed our developers about this issue.
Please use the 1:1 prescan until we have updated this.
kind regards,
Arne Ketelhohn.

It seems the latest update took care of this problem. Thanks!
On the other hand, the issue with super slow scans (as described in the thread "SilverFast 8 - Mac OS X - drivers") seems to be worse than before. The scans get stuck in a weird "slow-mode" where it takes about 5 minutes for each scan. You never know when the problem appears and all you can do is press "cancel" and start over. After about 6-7 tries (different every time) it goes back to normal speed. Doesn't even solve the problem by shutting down the software and scanner or resetting the frame. Super frustrating and time consuming. Don't think the scanner itself feels alright about this start-cancel pressing either.

Dear Manne,
What you describe sounds like either a scanner or connection issue.
The speed of the scan itself is controlled by the scanner's firmware not SilverFast.
Check the connection of the scanner.
Make sure you do not use a hub or extension cord.
In case there is an issue accessing the harddrive fast enough you can move the temporary files to another harddrive.
In the preferences you find this option in the general tab.
kind regards,
Arne Ketelhohn.

Of course I have checked the connection and of course I have the temp files on a fast internal hard drive . Are you trying to buy time or what is this?
You make med very confused when you are saying one thing and another colleague of yours are saying another. Check the quote:
LSI_Morales wrote:Hi guys,
An apology to all of you (thought I had posted something before).
After some internal research, we found out that the older framework will not work on Lion. The reason is that the old framework is powerPC only.
I guess the test with the older framework is not possible.
We have to wait for a modified framework from Plustek.
Again, an apology to all of you, we appreciate your understanding and patience.
Kind regards
Is there a problem with the scanner itself or is it the framework Morales is talking about which you are working on together with Plustek?
What is the status on this one? Do I have to return the product to the store? It's useless as it is now.

That quote is outdated.
Plustek has updated their drivers to Intel code some time ago.
This must be a different issue.
The only thing missing at this moment is the option to activate the high resolution prescan.
Did you already contact
Plustek about this matter?
kind regards,
Arne Ketelhohn.

I have the same problem with prescan colors not matching the final scan. What's more the option to adjust the working space for CMS is unavailable. See the attached screen shot showing the final scan file on the right rendered in ACDSee Pro and the prescan in Ai Studio rendered with a warmer tone on the left. Also note the CMS preferences window with grayed out option.

Dear customer,
The CMS settings are correct this way.
The "Input" is not used in
NegaFix mode.

Hi,
I have the exact same problem - see attached (apologies for the low resolution, it had to fit below the attachment size limit, but the problem is visible nonetheless.
I'm running SF SE Plus 8.0.1r44 (well, the Demo, I'm glad I spotted this problem before buying) - on Mac OS X 10.9. The scanner is a plustek OpticFilm 7300 updated with the latest drivers.
If I read the thread correctly, the developers have been made aware of the problem - almost two years ago. An option to change the preview scan resolution would be helpful (or at any rate being able to find what this resolution is. I have to say I prefer the preview look to the one of the final scan - at least on this shot.
Could anything be done about this?
Regards,
Will

Dear Will,
With the newest SilverFast and drivers installed there should be no difference in color.
Make sure your scanframe is set tightly around your image.
Empty/unexposed areas inside it disturb the histogram.
Try scanning the same image several times without changing any settings.
Then compare the scanned images if they differ in color.
Also test scanning the same image at different resolutions and see if that makes a difference.
Kind regards,
Arne Ketelhohn.
