Getting a QuickScan popup in in 7

Hi - just installed a 7400 on a 4Gb RAM noteboook running Windows 7 to make sure it goes fast enough. SliverFast runs fine, but with a thousand slides to get through I don't want to be doing a million mouse clicks. The QuickScan button on the 7400 creates the scan (no screen popping up) but is dumping everything to Desktop.
I've gone through the manual and where it says Click on the QuickScan icon and go into Properties is great advice, but regardless of how I start QuickScan (even run the exe manually) I don't get a quickScan Screen pop up to change the default settings.
Any ideas why Win 7 is hiding this from me?
