Scans coming out wierd on 7200i, blocks of big pixels

I just got this and its been amazing so far, I've been using it non-stop. I'm having troubles getting the right look with all the settings but that had been the only problem. But I went to scan some negatives tonight & I'm getting these weird blocks of pixels at random spots in the pictures. Ive turned it off & on, restarted VMWareFusion (which I'm using to run silverfast on my mac), and I've tried different negatives and it keeps happening.

Dear newton,
it seems that you are trying to use iSRD on a black-and-white negative.
This will not work successfully, as the silver in the film is irritating iSRD,
because it pretends that there are defects all over the picture ...
Best regards

Hi Martin,
I understand now because i've been having the same problems, but how do I scan my B & W negatives then ? what software do I need ? or can I change the setting on my 7200i ?
Any help would be greatly appreciated
Cheers
Damon

Dear Damon,
please try to switch off iSRD and activate SRD, instead.
This will not use infrared data but will try to detect defects purely from the RGB (or gray scale) data.
Please play a little with SRD parameters (there is a special preview button available beneath the SRD button)
and find those settings that correct most defects but result in less "damage" to the remaining image.
It's a compromise, but you need to go into it beause the infrared data are useless in your case.
Best regards
Martin
