I just received the Plustek OptocFilm 7200 and Silverfast SE. I have a lot of slides to scan and want the scans to be of excellent quality. I am new at this and I don't know what the settings should be. Do I max out and scan using 7200 dpt and 48 bit color? Thanks for any help.

Datone,

I have two comments for you. One is that you should use the maximum "Optical" resolution your scanner allows, and secondly 48 bit color is preferable because it will yield more image information to work with later, but if file size is an issue for you it is possible to get good results using the 48-> 24 Bit Color setting.

Thank you. I will be putting the slides on a DVD to be viewed on a TV. Will the maximum still be needed?

Well,

Even though your current output destination is TV, you may decide to do something else with your images down the road. Once you have captured your full "Optical" resolution archive images you can use them to generate derivatives for multiple purposes, such as viewing on TV.

Hope this makes sense and helps!
