LaserSoft Imaging

I'm using plustec opticfilm 7200 and I'm scanning slides on win XP...and the software is SF se 6.2.1.r4 and all images have overburned hihglights but on the slides in hihglights detail exists and I've checked all configurations of settings and I can't afford to make them appear on scaned images. My question is what causes the problem:) ...

this highlight clipping may be due to different reasons:
1. the scanner (in default status) provides too bright images (e.g. lamp too bright or integration time too long)
2. the software settings lead to information loss in the highlights

If the image is overall too bright in the preview and in the final scan, you should try to deactivate the default scanner profile in "Options button -> CMS tab". Indeed, this scanner profile is generic for the OpticFilm 7200 and might not suit your scanner.

You should also check if the highlights are also clipped when the automatic is deactivated. If no, you can adjust the parameters for the automatic function in "Options button -> CMS auto" (e.g. set "Auto Threshold Highlight" to 1 or 0).

You can also try to apply a gradation curve which is a bit steeper in the for large gray values in order exploit more the scanner dynamic in highlights.

well thanks for informations but I think it is caused by a low density range which is 3.3 it's maybe good for negatives but not for slides... a found that lately... bye
