Hello,
I have a problem with calibration, I've been dealing with it for two weeks now, and still.. can't solve it. I calibrated my scanner with IT8 callibration with all the settings right (at least I hope so) and still the colours are horrible. I ran the callibration again but the results were quiet diffrent and the colors still not right (35mm slides). Is there any possible way to callibrate this scanner right, or are these just the hardware limitations? Mostly there seems to be a great problem with pale shades of gray and all the light colours. I tried to adjust them, but they're just gone from the scan.

Sorry, forgot about the system info..
I'm using Windows XP.
And yes, I used the Silverfast IT8 Target for transparencies.
And with every single callibration (with the same parameters and settings) I get a different result. Well, it varies between "no grey" or "too much magenta" in general. How's that possible?

I think you will need to provide more information before anyone can offer help.

At a minimum:
What OS are you using? (I.e. Windows, MAC)
Are you using the SilverFast IT8 Target for transparencies?

It might also make sense to contact LaserSoft support depending on the answers to the above. Here is the support link http://www.silverfast.com/problemreport/en.html

if it calibrated without errors, the calibration is not the problem.

make sure you have all the film profile and colour cast settings off if using positive films. if you are using negative films you have to use the film profile that is accurate for the exact piece of film you are using. on the standard silverfast version you can only choose from a few films, on the AI version you can make you own profiles. either case its unlikely the film profile will be exactly right for the film.

Dear Alex,

if you experience variing results with calibration,
please first make sure that you drive the scanner "warm"
before you run the IT8 calibration process in SilverFast.
If you then use this ICC profile on your "warm" scanner,
please check if you still get variing results (from the same orginal!).
If so, please send me two typical example scans that show the difference.
