After downloading the latest SF-8.5.0r4 software I found that several problems with the original version had been corrected so that I could use the Plustek 120 to scan 35 mm filmstrips. However I need to know where I can find a help file that explains how to use the new Overview features. Especially how to understand what clicking on the different Overview Dialog windows. Like what clicking one or more times on a frame does. Then what does the different blue boarders mean? What is the difference between a square blue boarder and a rounded corner blue boarder? What does a white mean compared to blue boarders mean? Then does a thin black boarder mean?

Clicking on the question mark (?) changes the mouse pointer to a red circle with reverse slash in it that stops everything until the Overview window is closed. I have uploaded screen captures that show the various ways the frames appear.

The blue frames are those selected for batch scanning or import into the JobManager (Ai Studio only).

When not working with the JobManager the round corner frame shows the image active for the preview when you close the overview window.
The rounded corners have no function when adding images to the JobManager.

The Windows help function is not supported.

Thanks for the quick reply Arne. Now a few more questions about the use of the Overview window:

1. Is there a way to save the frame horizontal offsets so these can be recalled for later use? My Plustek 120 needs 4 to 5 clicks of the left arrow for all 35 mm frames. Now I have to manually add the offsets every time I use the 35 mm filmstrip holder.

2. Now the first time a click on a frame the Blue boarder changes to white. I think that deselects that frame. It takes a second click to change the boarder to a blue rounded corner.

3. Is it possible for the person, who updated the Plustek 120 Overview code, to provide a few words on how to use the Overview window? Right now it takes hours of trial and error effort to figure out how to use the various functions.

Is there any way to save the Plustek 120 35 mm film strip horizontal offset settings? My Plustek 120 film strip holder needs four or five offset clicks for every frame. Right now I have to do this for every scan.

Are there any plans to provide a Windows help file for the Plustek 120 Overview window? If the people who wrote the Overview computer code provide instructions on how to use the different options in the Overview window it would help new users.

I am having trouble figuring out how to use JobManager to batch scan multiple frames with the Plustek 35 mm film strip holder. (I have no problem doing a manual scan of a single frame.) When I use the Overview window Add Selection button to transfer selected frames to the JobManager, it does not transfer the frame names I enter for each frame. It seems to use the last entry I made.

Then the latest SF-JM-en.pdf downloaded from the web site is quite a bit different than the SF-8.5.0r4 JobManager for the Plustek 120 35 mm filmstrip. Has anyone know the proper way to use the Plustek 120 JobManager with the current Overview window?

Is there a update planned for the SF-JM-en.pdf JobManager help file to cover its use with the Plustek 120 35 mm holders? The current one has nothing that applies to the Plustek 120. Right now the only way I can get repeatable JobManager results is to do a Software Reset before I start using the scanner. Then I have to repeat the setup from scratch.

Dear Bill,

Currently there is no way to save the offset.
But I will forward your request to our product management.

The add selection button imports the images into the JobManager and creates a new frame for each one.
That is why the name and other settings reset.
If you want to use certain settings for all your added images you can set custom presets in SilverFast.
Set up an image with the settings you want to use and save it's settings in the Frame menu.
You can then select your saved setting in the preferences' general tab in the "Default Setting" pull-down menu.

The batch process also has two ways of naming files.
The batch saving dialog, that opens when the Job is started, auto numbers the files using a single filename.
If you want to use individual names simply directly klick the scan button ignoring the rest of that dialog.
