8200i multicolor stripes in the final image

Hello
It seems that I have got a problem
I purchased the SE version, install driver for Plustek 8200i and the SilverFast SE version.

Start up the software seems to work. But, after a few scan (negative Kodak Gold 200) there was some multicolor stripes in the picture. After that, I updated the driver and SilverFast to the latest version. Still the same problem.

Some information from the log file I don't know if that helps?

Dear customer,

your images unfortunately have not reached us.
But what you describe rather sounds like a temperature based hardware issue.
You might want to contact Plustek about this.

Kind regards,
Arne Ketelhohn.

Hi Martin,

I don't have an answer but hope you have further info.

I finally got a new 8200i working on a mac (after upgrading software and drivers). I got 4 reasonable scans and now stripes, technicolor bands, even more colour than yours, in previews and final image! The chat line says there are no agents available. Checked all settings. Thought of temperature too but the box is cool and it uses LEDs. Thinking of returning the scanner and software for full refund. Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Rob

Dear Rob,

are you on a PC?
Have you tested the scanner using the Quickscan utility? (Make sure you use the same resolution)
This sounds like a hardware issue.

Kind regards,
Arne Ketelhohn.

Thanks Arne,

I am on a Mac and did not have access to a PC to try Quickscan.
I too reasoned that it must be a hardware issue: I had updated drivers and got a few good scans. I restored all settings to default to eliminate the possibility that it might be something I'd changed. I even tried the calibration target, which rendered so badly that the software was unable to recognise it. All Plustek was able to suggest was reinstalling the driver, which I'd already done.

So I returned the scanner.
Thanks for the suggestions anyway,
Regards,
Rob
