solution for scans cut in half

My OpticFilm 7400 recently started scanning only the bottom half of images. The scanner head would queue up the midpoint of a film negative, start scanning, then vibrate/buzz upon reaching the bottom border of the negative, perhaps believing there is more image to scan. This would result in the scanning only the bottom half of a negative, and this happened on every other scan.

SOLUTION: Connect the scanner to a USB 2.0 port.

I realized the half-scan problem arose only after I had hooked my scanner to one of my computer's USB 3.0 ports. Plustek's engineers should look into possible hardware incompatibility with USB 3.0. I've read about this half-scan problem on other forums.

I'm running Win 8.1 Pro and Silverfast 8.0.1r52 -- the latest version at the time of this posting.

Dear customer,

On our own testing systems no issues regarding USB 3.0 could be found.
The USB 2.0 downwards compatibility is the responsibility of the USB chipset's manufacturer.
There only have been a few known issues with USB 3.0 so far.
For most part these have been solved by the USB 3.0 chip manufacturers.
Please try updating the drivers for your motherboard/USB 3.0 chipset.
This will most likely solve your issue.
Otherwise please inform your board manufacturer about this.

Kind regards,
Arne Ketelhohn.
