blue tinge on b&w negative scans

Postby peeves82 » Fri Aug 23, 2013 9:27 am

Hi,

I am scanning b&w negatives with a PlusTek OpticFilm 7400 and SilverFast 8. For some reason, I am getting a blue tinge in the highlights. I am not using any filter etc. This only happens in the scanned image. The prescan comes out fine.

Does anyone know why this is happening? I have attached below screenshots of the prescan and the scanned image.

Dear customer,

You might be using an outdated driver.

Please remove the "Plustek****.framework" folders from the directory.
/Library/Frameworks/

Then reinstall the latest SilverFast update from our website.

kind regards,
Arne Ketelhohn.

I'm having the same issue.
I don't see the framework files you referenced above.
Should I be seeing them?

I have plustek OpticFilm 8200i and SilverFast SE Plus 8.0.1r30.

Thank you,
Andy

Have you tried reinstalling the driver already?

I have forwarded your other post to our support system and will get back to you by e-mail also.

Kind regards,

Hello Arne,

Do you know how I can install the scanner drivers?
plustek manual says that I don't need to install scanner drivers because the drivers are included in the SilverFast installation.

Thank you,
Andy

Dear Andy,

I just wrote that two posts ago. ;-)
It is quite easy.
Here is m description again.

Please remove the "Plustek****.framework" folders from the directory.
/Library/Frameworks/

Then reinstall the latest SilverFast update from our website.

Hello Arne,

I've tried that already and tried again but it didn't help.
However, it was fixed when I download the scanner driver (v 1.0.0.6) from the plustek website by following the link provided on the update page.
Perhaps driver included in the SilverFast installation is older?

Andy

Dear Andy,

Not that I am aware of but I will check.
Most important is that it fixed your issue. ;-)

kind regards,
Arne Ketelhohn.

Dear Andy,

I just checked with our product management and the driver you got from the website is in deed slightly newer than the one currently included in SilverFast.
However we also have gotten the newer driver now and it will be included in SilverFast's next update.

kind regards,
Arne Ketelhohn.
