 I have a e-Mac OS X Panther, the umax astra 2100U does not work
with it, I got the message from Umax, said to do a "go around" I don't want
to do all that work, so the question is: WHAT is a good scanner that I can
use, just install and go from there" Also, "Are there more than one"
Thank you and Happy New Year to all,

scanner for panther

I just purchased an Epson 2400P from Epson for 99.00 and it works great with panther. No need to wait for lasersoft to write software as this scanner has a great software bundle that works as a standalone or Photoshop plugin. The scans are great! Very fast scans if your system has USB 2.0 or still very quick in USB 1.1

For CDSSH re: USB Port

:P I found my "port" I have a USB 4 port hub for Macintosh, it is a Belkin.
Will that work with the Panther? It is ok for the i-Mac.
Thanks for your help.

Bettie

If the hub is Mac OS compatable it should work fine. I use a D-Link and it works great!

 Thank you for your reply. I think it is because my printer started right
up and it is on that port. I have sent as e-mail to Belkin with no reply.
I can buy the scanner & tell them I will return if "doesn't work". I get most
all at Comp U.S.A., they are very good.
Happy New Year,
