Minolta Multi resolution.

I have a question regarding the scanning resolution on my Minolta Multi scanner and using Silverfast SE /AI. The scanner is capable of scanning up to 2820dpi for 35mm and 1128dpi on medium format. I noticed on Minolta?s site that the Multi and Multi II are essentially the same units with the Multi II having a 2820dpi on medium format. The Multi 1 can be upgraded to 2820dpi by a software only upgrade. So here is my question, on SF I an able to select 2820dpi as the scanning resolution, is this a true 2820dpi or am I interpolating?

ChrisL,

interpolating occurs only when you select a resolution that is beyond the optical resolution your scanner is capable of scanning.

Yes I know that but thanks for the reply. My concern is that the software is smart enough to detect the opitical res of the scanner HW. As I said before the Multi 1 and Multi 2 are identical except that the Multi 2 will scan medium format negs and chromes at 2820 dpi. When talking with Minolta the only difference is the software and with the upgraded software the Multi 1 is capable of 2820 medium format scans. So my hope is SF has this "upgrade" built in.

Ah,

I'm believe the software communicates with the scanner via the driver provided by the scanner manufacture. This would mean if they provide the upgrade you mention they should also provide an upgraded driver and SilverFast would work as epxected.

Anyone from LSI want to confirm my belief for ChristL?
