Parcial scan area for USM as in Ver 6.6x

Please but back the "Selected Area" for scanning while using the USM tool. It is SO MUCH faster than having to scan the "WHOLE" negative to use the USM Tool.
I don't need to scan the whole negative to sample a 100% section to use the USM tool. I just want it to scan the 100% area chosen in the navigator window.
Please put this option back in Version 8x.
I have both the last Version 6.6x and Version 8.x BUT, because version 8 scans the whole negative to just see a 100% selection, I don't use it... for a roll of 36x negatives, it adds over 45min to my workflow just to use the USM tool...It may be faster with a 64bit scanner, but, I can't afford a Plustek 76001 this year. I have a Plustek 7300, and run Version 8 32bit until then. I prefer to use Version 6.6x until you add an option to scan the just the selected area, just like Version 6.6x does.
It takes under 10s for version 6.6x to scan the selected area, compared to over 45s or longer to scan the whole negative, before you can start adjusting USM sliders. A huge increase in time per negative, if you are scanning dozens of negatives at a time. It may be "Nice" to make the whole negative available to look at as you use the USM tool. But, it isn't needed if the person knows where to check for using the USM tool.
I like the new interface but, it also takes longer to work each negative because the USM takes so long to scan "Just to use the tool"
I have a 2.26ghz i5 4 core 64bit CPU, 8gig ram, Win7 64bit.
So maybe an update to add an option to "Just to scan a small area, instead of the whole area? Please !!!
