NegaFix profile for the Ektar 1000...?

Dear Sirs,

Does LaserSoft have any plans for a NegaFix profile of the Kodak Ektar 1000? Or does your comment about the Ektar 100 also apply to the Ektar 1000?

I've quite some Ektar 1000 films that I used for shootings on concerts. Since there wasn't any daylight situation for reference, it's hard to tell what alternative profile fits the real colors best. Do you have any suggestions?

Kind regards,
Stefan.

Dear Stefan,

sadly there is no profile for this particular emulsion but with SilverFast Ai you can simply create your own profile.
Please have a look at the following resources:

I desperately need this. With the introduction of the 120 version, Ektar becomes my only color-negative film. Ektar has been wildly popular for Kodak, as the quick into of the 120 version shows, so I'm sure I'm not alone. I'm afraid Silverfast will become shelf-ware for me until then.

Dear Ned,

sadly we can not supply this profile as our 3rd party supplier for calibration targets that are used to create the Negafix profiles do not offer this emulsion.

Hello,
some months have passed, the Ektar 100 is now also available in 120 format. Is there any update concerning the profile for this film? I know that many would appreciate this (including me) ...
thank you
Matus

Dear Matus,

My colleague Thomas Luebker wrote:

Without this specific calibration targets we can not create a new profile.

please try the recommended solution (also by my colleague) a few entries above, those resources provide you with indications and instructions on how to modify an existing profile to match a non existing emulsion.

Cheers

Dear LSI team,

I actually tried to create my own Ektar 100 profile and now I get acceptable results - this is probably a sign that the user manual is usable what is always a good news  . But it is clear that a dedicated profile would be a better solution. Since this is not directly in you hands, maybe you could just point the attention of your calibration target provider towards this new film. As an end users we just expect an update of a product and we turn to SilverFast as to the producer of this product with a call for an update. How this proceeds in a detail is beyond what an end user can do.

Dear Matus,

I am glad you could create your own profile.

Probably it would

You've said it, this is not in our hands anymore. For the time being our provider does not plan to support any other emulsions than those included in SilverFast.

Well... we never promised we would update or offer more emulsions than those the software contains. We even offer customers a way of creating their own curves which is the current solution to the issue that concerns this thread.

We can not offer users false expectations (and we do not want to).

Perhaps we might find a way in the future to generate other emulsion curves but that is not a fact nor a promise (it's not even a project), it is just a possibility.

We really appreciate your understanding in this matter and offer you an apology for any misunderstanding.

Best regards
