Maybe it's possible, but I don't know how. My idea is to fix the output size and resolution (f.e. 1980x1320 pixs, 330dpi) independent from the input sizes. Input's can be 4000 px x 3000 px (in this case maybe a floating frame to crop the image) or 3000x2000 px, 4500x3000 and so on. In each case I'd like to get output 1980x1320 and 330 dpi for my printer.

Interesting concept! It should be possible to create an algorithm to do this, but I would be concerned with the quality of the images. If all of the source images are the same size the current tool will do this, but if they are not the same size the percentage of change from input to output could prove to be inferior. Non the less this is a very interesting idea.

Well... If the input size is to small and the image needs to be oversampled we can simply disable this feature or keep only the resolution...

When you set the output size to 1980 x 1320 pixels your resulting file will always have that resolution, no matter if your printer capability is 300, 330 or 600 dpi. Or if your screen is 72 or 96 dpi. The file will always be 1980 x 1320 pixels.
