As long as we are dreaming of new features....

I converted to Silverfast Ai from the ScanWizard Pro that came bundled with my Microtek Scanner. I've long since abandoned SW in favor of SF for everything except the occasional hi-bit B&W scan (Discussed elsewhere on this board.)

But SW had one feature I really miss. The retention of enlarged prescans. My scanner's transparency adapter holds two strips of 6 35 mm negs or 12 mounted slides. If I do enlarged prescans of several images in SW, I can toggle the view among them without scanning again. Very helpful for closely examining subtle differences among similar images.

I can simulate this to a degree in SF by doing the original overview prescan at higher magnification but the saved individual prescans works better for making individual image corrections.

Thank You.

George...

High Resolution Prescans in SilverFast Ai & Productivity Zoom

SilverFast has a unique feature, the high resolution prescan.
Page 132 of the SilverFast manual explains this feature. Under "Option"--> General you can set the resolution of the prescan up to 8x.

When you have several small objects such as 35 mm slides on you prescan, you can use the Zoom function to quickly zoom in with the enhanced zoom of SilverFast, do your corrections, zoom out and instantly zoom into the next image without the scanner having to do a zoomed scan.

This way you will get maximum productivity with your scanner!
