Roll film processing - enable single frame action only

I have a Nikon film scanner and I use Job Manager to store frame exposure parameters. Often I will return to a single frame on a 36 exposure film to try something different with an existing scanned frame. Each time I do this the entire roll must be prescanned and focused. It would be great to have a method to select one frame, have the scanner advance to the selected frame, adjust the position and scan without the entire 36 exposure roll entering the scanner and then exiting to the selected frame.

Perhaps I have missed something here but if not this would give some flexibility and save time. It might also allow the ability to park the scanner on the last frame before turning it off for a short work pause. This would avoid having to return/retrieve the negative to the sleeve after the pause.

Dear hmmacha

you're not even telling what OS, what scanner, what SF version and variant you do use...

Well, click the overview icon and directly double-click the image wanted.
If this is the first time the film is inserted, though, the drivers simply need to know you many images are present. Also, there are other procedures which your scanner may routine perform (e.g. auto-focussing, auto exposure measurement) that possibly cannot be influenced by SilverFast.
