I'd be really happy to see Silverfast as a UB application some day!
Hope it'll speed it up.
Three passes instead of four in MEX ICE mode - sorry, I just can't see any logic in an additional IR pass and in doubling the D&S masking before the final stitching.
Thank you for your work - just keep up with it!

Dear tygger

well, I'd like to agree with you, but this - for certain scanners, e.g. Epson - unfortunately, cannot be done otherwise.

The technical reason behind this is that we need to call two scans with different exposure levels for the multi-exposure anyway. Now, for the final scan result, parts of either image are taken into account adjusted by according algorithms to make them look fine together although there have been exposed differently.

However, this would mean the if ICE would only be applied to the first (and normal-exposed) scan, the parts from the second scan (without ICE) would still bear image defects due to dust and scratches.

If we could scan separately (1) normally exposed image, (2) over-exposed image, (3) infrared image - then we would really need only three passes. Alas, ICE doesn't allowed for separately use.

However, with SilverFast's own infrared cleaning solution, iSRD, which is provided with certain scanners, indeed we can control the whole workflow and thus perform the scan in three passes.
