I would like to be able to turn off negafix entirely and still scan negatives.

I would also like to scan to DNG as a raw format.

Dear womanmarine,

you could just scan in positive mode to Photoshop and hit command + i (invert) or choose <Linear> from the "ASA/ISO" pulldown menu in negafix dialogue.

DNG is on the top of my wishlist too.

Best,

JAN

Dear Jan:

Thanks for your response. I know I can do that in photoshop, that's not the point. Using negafix should be an option, not a requirement. I need to be able to see the positive as I scan and I have very old negatives that I know nothing about. They were taken in the very early 1900s by my grandfather. They are all I have, no one knows where the original photos are.

Please consider this request for inclusion.

Thanks,
Ruth

Dear Ruth,

switiching Neagfix off is included already by choosing <Linear> from the "ASA/ISO" dropdown menu in negafix dialogue. Choosing a linear "correction" is just as if Negafix was switched off.
Negafix is essential for the eoptimization of negative scans since it compensates for the compression in dynamics and colors from the mask of the film. Even if you scan very old negatives with an unknown emulsion the manual mode works magic rather than tweaking in PS. Pls consider watching a small tutorial explaining exactly <a href="https://www.silverfast.com/showmovie/en.html?movien=172" target="blank">how to edit and create Negafix profiles manually in "expert mode"</a>.

Best,
JAN
