I realize this request has been made before, but I want to repeat it because it's such an important request. When HDR or Ai are used with 48-bit data, those data should not automatically be converted and saved as 24-bit data. Let the user decide if that's what he wants or if he'd prefer to output as 48-bit. I do all of my initial work in HDR using 48-bit mode, but sometimes I don't have time to finish all of the work I want to do and have to save the work so it can be completed at another time. But I can now only save the output as a 24-bit file which means I have to start all over the next day if I want all work in HDR done in 48-bit mode. It should be a very simple task to allow HDR and Ai save in 48-bit mode and shouldn't be that difficult to implement.

Roger,
I agree with you - and I know several other people have made similar requests. Mr. President said something about there not being much 48-bit support when Silverfast was developed, so it may not be as easy as it sounds to implement. They do however seem to be as determined to get the very best image as many of us are, so hopefully they're working on bringing us 48-bit output. It would be nice to know of their plans, of course.

SilverFast saving all corrections into 48 bit
Dear SilverFast friends!
Here is good news !!!
We are already working on that kind of functionality. It is not any easy thing. That is why nobody is having it yet. We have already got color matching and gamma for raw data.
Expect something to be ready for testing by the end of January 2002.
A Merry Cristmas and a happy new year to all of our dear SilverFast users from
all of the LaserSoft Imaging Team!

The President wrote that we should expect "something" by the end of January - lets not trash the old stuff just yet ;-0
