Channel selection for B&W

It would be great to be able to tell Silverfast which colour channel to use for B&W scanning. It is possible for preview, but not for the actual scan.
On my Epson 4990, the green channel is much sharper than the other two, so this would result in sharper scans.

Dear Mr Bosman
SilverFast doesn't behave differently when it comes to prescans or endscans in this respect.
If you've selected "prescan monochrome", the prescan will be read in monochrome, which does speed up the prescan with certain scanners. Obviously, this options only makes sense for monochrome (i.e. greyscale and lineart) scans.
The filtered / blind colour does actually do what you think of, but you need to think of it in RGB: Highscale greys to white meaning this colour is (in a monochrome scan) highly present. However, as we tend to think traditionally in additive colour spaces, it is dropped from view on a otherwise white background, isn't it.
Best regards
