Optical Corrections

I'd like to order a tool for correcting lens barrel distortion and perspective. Wouldn't it be great if we had 50 images where the camera didn't move but becuase of the wide-angle lens and the angle, there was some distortion and perspective correction needed, if it were possibel to set points that could be pushed and pulled and those points/corrections could be appied to a batch of images.

That's my next wish.

Dear MGilvey

we also did think about such a helpful utility before, which is not trivial to implement, however.
Though you are for now left to use third party tools for this purpose, I did enter your request into our development database.

Thanks for your inspiration and kind regards

Awesome! It just seems like a natural thing to have. I mean as long as we're on the topic of making these kinds of corrections at the time of a scan or when an RAW file is processd.

Thanks

you might have a search in the astronomy field. They have all sorts of tricks and software for dealing with optical aberrations. i don't have direct knowledge of any particular software though.

There used to be Panorama Tools by Prof. Dersch of the University of Applied Sciences Furtwangen, now continued at
http://panotools.sourceforge.net/

For the Mac, there is
http://www.kekus.com/
I didn't try yet, but it might be worth the investment.

Those look like great programs but they also appear to still be in their infancy. You should buy the company and improve it!

There is a PhotoShop plug-in called DCE that has a tool for this.

DCE's features look useful, but this software is only for Windows:
