BATCH SCANNING...6000+ scans to do (ouch!)

NEW USER so be gentle...

I've got 6K+ scans to do and need to input comments, copyrights, etc. for each picture/batch how can I do this?

I've got Silverfast Ai but it doesn't seem to have any ability to input any comments while batch scanning -- into EXIF fields for instance.

v**s**n can do the comments but the scans are inferior to Silverfast. So I can get good scans w/o comments or get poor scans w/comments. Or I can do the work twice and put the comments in after scanning but that's not a good option either.

I need the comments for a searchable database of all the scans -- crosslinked to the file names. Several other programs can pull the EXIF data and export it to many types of files that could be used for searching. The problem is getting the data in while scanning.

Any ideas?

Dear user.

I guess what you need is support of IPTC data. SilverFast Ai doesn?t support IPTC yet. However SilverFast DCPro does.

You could do one of the following:
1. Scan the images using SilverFast Ai, open each individual image in SilverFast DCPro, add IPTC data and process the image to a new file.
2. Scan the images using SilverFast Ai into one directory, open SilverFast DCPro, open the VLT (virtual light table) and use the "renamer" to add IPTC data to all images in a directory.

Please note that SilverFast DCPro has to be purchased separately.
Please try the free demo first to see if this solution fits your needs.
