v**s**n allows the user to output a number of files in the same scan operation. For example, the user can save the RAW data file, a JPEG file with an optional reduction value to produce a proportionally smaller image, and also a tiff file with an optional reduction value. All of these files can be produced from a single scan in one operation.

I am currently in the process of archiving my family photograph collection. I want to produce RAW HDR files to save for future 'scanning', and lower resolution JPEG files for screen viewing and digital cataloging. Ideally, I'd also like to produce a second set of JPEG files at a slightly higher resolution for printing. All of these files could ideally be produced with the same scan operation. After scanning each roll of film, all of the RAW, JPEG (Print) and JPEG (Screen) files would be written to DVD for archiving and easy access.

I am aware that the Job Manager could do this, but it requires a lot more work and it requires that every single image is prescanned so that the scanning frame input dimensions can be defined. It also requires manually changing the file names for each and every frame so that files do not get deleted by newer scans.

I have yet to look into the possibility of using a pre-configured Job Manager job and/or file aliases to produce a pre-configured ready-to-go image output process.

regards
Gregory
