Questions regarding BlueScan48 and Silverfast

Hello
I have a new Bluescan48 and the latest Silverfast software and I have a couple of questions:
- When I scan 8" x 10" transparencies I find a pattern of vertical lines in the dark regions of the image, particularly in the blue channel. I know this is an aspect of flatbed scanning but is there anything I can do to minimize them in your software?
- I have made profiles for transparency and reflective materials, following the manual instructions. Both profiles show up in the CMS tab in the transparency pop up menu but a greyed out "none" appears in the reflective pop up menu. How do I set the reflective profile?
- Near the center of the image there are often, but not always, two very fine verticle white lines that go from the top to the bottom of the image. What are they, and how do I avoid them?
- Finally, this is not a Silverfast issue, but do you have any suggestions for removing the occasional Newton ring?
Thank you, - M
