Problem with Umac 1000 scanner, osx 10.3.2,

Scans no problem in OS9 Using Silverfast, In OSX error on the 2nd or 3rd scan guaranteed.
Silver Strart Error: Could not calibrate scanner.
I've deleted all the prefes - but again after the 3rd preview scan it will mess up - Ideas?
