Creoscitex Eversmart Jazz+ scanners and OSX

I haven't purchased the software yet but I have a question to the support staff over at LaserSoft.

I have an Eversmart Jazz+ and would like it to run in OS X. I checked the website and didn't find out if it was compliant with your program or not.

I understand that LaserSoft supports over 150 scanners in OSX (Macworld- March 2003) but is Creoscitex one of them?

Dear Kevinm -

Sorry- We don?t support Creoscitex scanner

But we recommend to use our SilverFast HDR version. You can scan with 48 bit and afterwards work with SilverFast HDR.
Please download a demoversion and try it :D

I own several versions of Silverfast for a few scanners and love it. I have the same Eversmart Jazz + scanner and understand you don't support it but I do not understand how I can use the HDR version, because the Jazz saves everything in 8 bit. The HDR suggestion will not really work will it?

Dear kirkgittings,

unfortunately I did not try the Jazz software.

Of course I would be best if it would allow to save raw scans at 48 Bits.
Then you can tell SilverFast HDR/DC/DCPro (in the Option's General panel) which gamma to expect in these scans when opening them.

But even when saving to 8 bits (i.e. 24 bits), you can still do some color corrections in SilverFast, although stronger gradation changes might lead to steps, then.

Best regards
Martin
