Silverfast crashes if I use it as a non admin. user...
Help!

Please make sure to set the write- permissions of the "photoshop/plugins/import-export"- folder to "all users". You can do this via the Get Info command in the OS X finder. Be sure to apply these new permissons also to all subfolders in the import-export folder.

I did this already... Where do I have to set it? Somewhere else? The software always crashes, if I do a prescan or a scan!!!

I think it is time to fix this now. I also have this problem, and I have made the whole Adobe Photoshop folder and it's contents mode 777, ie all users have all rights.

It seems like Silverfast have now idea how Apple have intended the use of the file system.
All temporary items, and preferences should be inside every users Library Folder. All drivers which only need to be read, not written to, should be placed in /Library/Application Support.
Since Silverfast currently have no idea that this is the way it should work, the folder /Library/Application Support/Nikon must have mode 777, ie all users must have read and write permissions.
To change this, open terminal and type (while you are logged in as admin)
>sudo chmod -R 777 "/Library/Application Support/Nikon"


Now it should work fine.

Please Silverfast, change this really insecure way of spreading irrelevant files across the file system.

It is not just Silverfast who do not understand the macosx file system; a similar hack is needed to make NikonScan (for their film scanners) work with non admin users in X.

Silverfast are forcing you to intentionally introduce a security hole in your system.

This needs to be fixed.
