how to operate the focus button for SF demo

This button has no real documentation, how does each of the 3 setting choices work?

Dear vidman.
You can
1. Switch focusing off.
2. Set focusing to automatic. Focusing will be performed in the middle of the scan area in the first prescan/scan after the scanner is switched on or the filmholder is inserted.
3. Set focusing to automatic with point. After selecting this mode, you can click in the prescan to set the point for focusing. Focusing will be performed at this point in the first prescan/scan after the scanner is switched on or the filmholder is inserted.
4. Set focusing to manual. When this mode is selected, you will see an additional focus-dialog icon just under the focus-mode icon. Click the focus-dialog icon to open the manual focus dialog. There you can make a preview of a specified area in output resolution. You can perform an automatic focus at a specified point. You can also set the value of the focus manually, which means you can over-focus or blur the resulting image.
