LaserSoft Imaging

I have been patiently waiting for the 64 bit CS5 plugin version of Silverfast for my Microtek 120tf running Snow Leopard. It was suggested that we would see this by the end of last year 2010 but it is now late April 2011. Is this release still in the works or has it been abandoned? I would like some updated information so I can decide whether to scrap my scanner.

Dear Mr. Moore,

In OSX you currently have to start CS5 in 32bit mode (using the "photoshop for SilverFast" icon).
The 64bit version of CS5 is still not documented in a way for us to adapt SilverFast.

From our next major release on we will offer SilverFast as a bridge module to solve this issue.

Thank you for your response. I did check with sales and even with my discount for being a previous owner of the software, the upgrade price is too much. The upgrade price is almost 1/3 of what I paid for my original scanner with the software. I would really like to have the software upgrade (I had great results with my previous version) but my scanning needs are becoming less and less critical as my inventory of DSLR digital files are increasing in number.

Now I am confused. I decided to revisit purchasing the 64 bit Photoshop CS5 plugin for Snow leopard (which I thought was included in Silverfast for my Microtek 120tf scanner. When I visited the Lasersoft web-sight, I get a message that says that it in not yet available for my scanner. Please advise.

Hi Paul,

It is correct, the Microtek 120 tf is not yet implemented on SilverFast 8. We do not have a definitive plan for the implementation of this scanner model yet.

Thank you for your reply. I am getting the feeling that I will never see version 8 on this scanner because it is no longer available. So my understanding is that their is only a 32 bit version available available for my scanner. Is this correct? What is the most current version that will work with the scanner?

SilverFast 6.6 is the most current version working with your scanner, it is not compatible with OS X Lion though.
