Dear Rocky,
IT8 calibration will have no effect on the alignment procedure.
When I checked the AS120tf at 2000 dpi recently, I was not able to generate a misalignment. I am in contact with SilverFast users to find out why their scans come out different from my findings.
(When I speak of 2000dpi, then I assume that the scale in SilverFast is 100%. Otherwise a different effective resolution
would be acquired from the scanner, which for scales above 100% would result in 4000dpi scans.)
Best regards
Martin

Hi LSI_Muenier,
Thank you for your reply. I thought to provide some clarification to my recent post and your response.
The test scans that I performed were set at 2000 dpi with a scale of 100%, and these scans were only to test the software! Otherwise, I perform scans at 4000 dpi without exception.

Most interestingly, I have found that the current SilverFast version 6.5.1r2 provides a correct ME Scan at 4000 dpi (100% scaling & 48 Bit HDR Color) with no alignment issues. This is surprising since I have found no mention of significant changes in the software or notations from other members on this forum regarding this issue since the latest update. I can only hope that my results are not a quirk from my simple tests. Time will tell.
It would be most useful if other members who have experienced issues with ME should post their results.

Did you recognize any other differences? For example a quality improvement? If not, maybe it does NOT work at all.

Dear Rocky,
scans with Multi-Exposure might work by chance for resolutions above 2000 dpi, but because of a firmware problem in the scanner I have seen erraticly stretched images when scanned with higher exposure than normal at a resolution above 2000 dpi. SilverFast then cannot successfully combine the partial scans into one Multi-Exposed image.
Below 2000 dpi no such stretching occurs.
Please note, that I talk of the actual scan resolution, here, i.e. the output resolution times the scaling factor.
Best regards
Martin

In the case it is a firmware problem, is there a response from the supplier (Microtec) to fix that problem? Do there exist the same problems with the 4000tf? Thank you for opening a perspective.

Dear Johannes,
we have asked Microtek about this, but no firmware fix is to be expected, unfortunately.
As for the 4000tf, we currently do not offer Multi-Exposure for this scanner.
Best regards
Martin
