LaserSoft Imaging

Hi!
I use the Microtek Artixscan 120tf as a filmscanner. While it does a good job with my MF-negs, I'm not sure about its 35mm-performance, since the color-scans often come out very grainy. Do you think a dedicated 35mm scanner as the Minolta 5400 will do a better job in terms of sharpness and overall quality than the Microtek?

I haven't tested both scanner in comparison yet when it comes to quality, but if you are especially concerned about grain, you might want to know that Minolta's Dimagescan 5400 features a special "grain dissolver", which can also be activated from SilverFast (> Options > Special).
While this function does improve the quality of certain scans, it also takes more time to scan your images. You might want to take these pieces of information into your consideration.

I don't know if Konica Minolta also sold their film scanners to Sony along with their cameras, does anyone else know?
