microtek 4000tf aps scan problem

I am having problems with the thumbnail scans with the APS adapter
for the 4000tf. I get a "not able to calibrate scanner" failure. Otherwise
I can scan indivdual frames ok. I need this feature to work because I have some APS canisters for which I have lost the index sheets.
