Scan either blacked out or completely washed out

Postby ghostman » Thu Jun 14, 2012 9:05 am

Hi,

I upgraded to v.12 on recommendation of my Silverfast Studio 8 program. When I scan my negatives now, I get a black screen with color streaks or a white screen with the same color streaks. The printer takes very long to respond (warm up) and the preview scan takes a ver long time (several minutes).

I have removed the scanner, uninstalled the drivers and Silverfast but I get the same results.

Please can you help me troubleshoot this. I was really starting to enjoy Studio 8!

Dear Ghostman,

Please make sure the filmholder is placed correctly.
The image (and log scan time) shows an effect which occurs when the scanner was not able to calibrate itself correctly.
Make sure the slit at the beginning of the holder points towards the hinges.
The area ut defines must remain free of any material.

kind regards,
Arne Ketelhohn.

Thanks for the reply LSI_Ketelhohn.

I removed the device from my system, uninstalled the Epson drivers and Silverfast 8 completely (again) and rebooted. I then reinstalled the scanner drivers and Silverfast and rebooted. I connected the scanner and started the Silverfast 8 application and everything appears to be back to normal. I inserted the film holder making sure the markers lined up and I can now scan again.

Thanks for the reply.

:-)
