Since I have been successfully using Colorsync profiles built with Monaco EZColor 2 and Nikonscan on an LS-2000, I thought I ought to be able to build profiles using Silverfast SE the same way. The uncorrected scans I get with Silverfast are so much better than what I got from Nilonscan, I thought that scans with the Monaco profiles would be great.
Not so. When the files are assigned the new scanner profile in Photoshop, the image becomes extremely contrastly, everything from mid-tones down goes black. If you then convert it to the working space (Adobe RGB on my Mac) the image lightens, but the blacks become solarized and turn green.
Iam I doing somethng wrong, or is Silverfast set up to only work with your IT8 calibration?
I am not sure I want to buy the full version for a scanner that will be replaced before the end of the year. (I use the Ai version with the IT8 option on my Epson for 6x6 and 4x5 film, so I know how well that calibration works.
Thanks for your help,
