First of all, hy, this is my first message on this boards.

Love so far SilverfastAi but lately I´m having a really weird problem scanning medium format negatives. The prescan and maginification images look as they should, but the file that comes out after the high-res scan is corrupted. Tried reinstalling software and drivers but problem does not go away. Any clues? It was fine this morning but after a break it started doing it, haven´t touched anything in the meantime.

I attached a small res version of what is going on.

Dear customer,

you probably have ICE or iSRD activated while scanning B&W images.
B&W images can not be corrected using infrared scans as the Silver Halide emulsion distorts the infrared beam.

I have a similar problem with Kodakchrome images - is the solution the same?

The issue is similar but in most cases not as severe.

The cause for this is the very dense Kodachrome material.
Are you using Kodachrome mode?
It uses special algorithms to correct Kodachrome films.

Have you already tried lowering the iSRD correction strength?
There are several Kodachrome films in existence and some distort the infrared beam stronger than others.

I thought I was in Kodachrome mode, but will check to make sure.

Will adjust iSRD to see what happens. I also had trouble getting enough brightness into this image. It looks to be properly exposed when viewed in a projector, but the scanner is having trouble producing a properly exposed scan. Any thoughts on other adjustments?

Please remember that an image will look different depending on the light source and used sensor.

Even a Projector will display different images from the same slide depening on the the used projection area (silverscreen, white screen, a painted wall, etc.)
The same way LED lights, halogen lamps, discharge lamps, flurecent tubes and so on will produce a different image due to their varying spectral curve.

The scanner uses a different lamp and instead of the human eye it uses a CCD sensor.

So, yes, the image will look different.
That is why SilverFast has so many adjustments.
So you can create the image in the way you want to see it.
